Let’s move forward with

*“모두가 함께 앞으로 나아가고 있다면, 성공은 저절로 따라옵니다”

영어와 관련해 자주 드리는 말씀이지만,

한 단어에 한가지 뜻만 있다면 좋겠지만, 앞뒤로 여러 전치사(preposition)가 따라붙어 다양한 의미로 쓰이니 어렵지요.

우리가 다 아는 move(움직이다)도 마찬가지…

move on(다음으로 넘어가다), move in(이사오다), move out(이사를 가다)…

오늘은 move forward와 관련된 표현들입니다.

1,(앞으로 나아가다, 진행하다)

“Let’s move forward with the idea”
(그 아이디어대로 진행합시다)

2,“Sounds great. Let’s move forward with the proposal”

(좋은 생각인데요. 그 제안대로 추진합시다)

3,“How did the meeting go?"

(회의가 어떻게 됐어요?)

“Unfortunately, they decided not to move forward with that plan”

(아쉽게도 그들은 그 계획을 추진하지 않기로 결정했습니다)

4,“We need to move forward with this project ASAP”

(우리는 이 프로젝트를 가능한 빨리 진행해야 합니다)

*ASAP(에이샙): As Soon As Possible

5,“I’m interested in moving forward.

What would be the next step?”

(저는 계속 진행하고 싶은데, 다음 단계는 어떻게 되나요?)

6,(앞으로는: moving forward)

“What should we do moving forward?”

(우리는 앞으로 어떻게 해야 할까요?)

*moving forward 또는 going forward= in the future: 앞으로는

7,“So, what’s your plan moving forward?”

(그래,앞으로의 계획은 어떻게 하실건가요?)

8,“Moving forward, please cc me on all of his e-mails.

I wanna be kept in the loop”

(앞으로는 그의 모든 이메일에 나도 참고인으로 넣어줘요.

상황이 어떻게 돌아가는지 나도 알아야겠어요)

*keep someone in the loop= keep posted, keep updated: 계속해서 상황을 알려주다

9,(비즈니스를 개선하면서)

“Please note that moving forward, we’ll be using the new pricing sheet”

(앞으로는 변경된 가격표를 사용할 예정이니 유념하시기 바랍니다)

10,(이미 지나간 일)

“What’s done is done, but what do you think we can do differently moving forward?”

(이미 저지른 일은 어쩔 수 없고, 앞으로는 어떻게 다르게 할 수 있을까요?)

11,“Of course, we need to do things differently moving forward”

(물론, 앞으로는 다르게 처리해야겠지요)

12,“Just make sure that you remember it moving forward”

(앞으로는 꼭 그것을 기억하도록 하세요)

13,“What’s done is done, but moving forward,

we can’t keep giving him a break”

(이미 지난 일은 어쩔수 없지만,

앞으로도 계속 그를 (그의 실수를) 봐줄 수는 없지요)
